Clad in black, a red band on his head, a grey and black one on his wrist, Tenzin Tsundue stands for the Tibetan people’s crusade for freedom. He was in Kochi to give a talk on behalf of the Friends of Tibet of which he is general secretary.

On inquiring about his wrist band, he says it’s called a ‘Rangzen’ band that stands for the struggle for independence.

In his rare appearance before a Washington audience, the head of the Tibetan administration in exile said that though he has no complaints or regrets, but he wish India could have done more for Tibet.

India and China are increasingly facing off each other because Tibet is no longer a "buffer zone" between them, the leader of Tibet's exiled government has said, noting that "pre-1949 there was hardly even a policeman on the border".

Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay

AFP - The leader of Tibet's exiled government says he would accept the Chinese Communist Party's rule in the territory, assuring Beijing it faced no threat to its sovereignty if it eases its grip.

Lobsang Sangay, who was elected in 2011 to a new position of prime minister in exile after the Dalai Lama gave up political duties, appealed to China for new talks on the grievances that have triggered a wave of self-immolations.

“I miss my mother. I remember seeing her 18 years ago,” says 26-year-old Tenzin, student at Madras Christian College, and also president of the Tibetan Students’ Association of Madras (TSAM).

The Dalai Lama is in town. I was to travel to Bangalore when I heard that the Dalai Lama would be in the city for two days. Immediately, I thought I should try to have his darshan; the easiest way was to attend his lecture on ‘science and religion’ held at the Christ University.
